Secreted by endocrine glands & carried by bloodstream. Estrogens: main female sex hormones (estradiol: endocrine system. Puberty onset involves the acivaion of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (hpg) axis. Hypothalamus: monitors eaing, drinking, sex; secretes gnrh (gonadotropin-releasing hormone) which is linked to puberty iming. Pituitary gland: controls growth & regulates other glands. Fsh + lh regulate the level of sex hormone (1)fsh follicle-simulaing hormone simulates follicle development & sperm development (2) lh luteinizing hormone regulates estrogen secreion and ovum development, and testosterone producion. These hormones are regulated by a negaive feedback system: growth hormones. Pituitary gland secretes growth hormone either directly or thru interacion with thyroid gland: adrenarche & gonadarche. Adrenarche: involves hormonal changes in adrenal glands.
