If there is no brain activity in medulla/pons, probably means there is no brain activity above. There is always some activity in brain. Dualism - somewhat valid as way of thinking, brain & body separate. Monism - brain & body are one. We can use technology to look at someone"s brain activity but that does not allow. Others" minds? us to look at everyone"s brain. The perception of what passes in person"s mind. Selective attention to ongoing perceptions, thoughts, feelings. Word passes important bc consciousness is a flowing stream. E. g. planning on what to do next and visualizing process. If too bored, something may be thought of to keep blood pumping. Females - future focused & problem solving. Depending on sleep cycle, many of growth & restoration hormones needed to develop secreted in night"s sleep. Along w/ blood pressure & body temperature can help w/ drugs used. 90 minute - runs day & night in terms of sleep.
