We can formulate two quesions which socrates must answer: The outline of plato"s response is as follows: i. What is it about an excellent city that consitutes its virtue: its wisdom, courage, etc. If you live in a good city, you become a beter person and if you become a beter person, you contribute beter to a good city: ii. What is it about this structure that consitutes its virtues, e. g. , its wisdom, etc. Ciizens, we shall say to them in our tale, you are brothers, yet god has framed you diferently. Argues we ought to tell people that we are born into certain classes that determines what your best contribuion to class is, not being born with gold or silver within us. But as we are all of the same original stock, a golden parent will someimes have a silver. 2. son, or a silver parent a golden son.
