Group mind, heard behavior or crowd psychology: his works on criminology are of particular interest of explaining some behaviors by criminals, such as returning to the crime scene and repeating it (repetition compulsion) Social cognitive the ory (sct: originator was psychologist albert bandura. The idea of reciprocal determinism was added where behavior is part of a continuous interactive cycle that includes individuals and their environments. Constructs of sct: changing a behavior is a function of the following factors: Self-control: emotional coping ability (can one deal with the consequences?) Environmental (external) factors -- the social/physical environment surrounding individuals (including the modeling behavior of others and reinforcements). Determines outcome: we observe what others do and learn (social environment) Done with children in an environment with authoritative figures. Idea: children pick up behaviours and repeat the behavior: went beyond what authoritative figures do (i can do it better!, no difference b/w boys and girls in behavior, key principle: learn by observation of others.
