If you"re totally relaxed you"re not fighting anything . When you relax your mind and body, you can focus. Placebo: what happens based on your own neural receptors. Cam: a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices and products that aren"t presently considered to be part of conventional medicine. ! ineffective strategies dropped and the effective ones become more conventional. Cam therapies are tested for safety and efficacy via design studies. Also called unconventional, non-conventional, unproven, irregular medicine/health care. Conventional medicine: medicine practiced by holders of md or do degrees. Also called allopathy, western, mainstream, orthodox, regular medicine, biomedicine. Complementary: used together with conventional medicine (i. e. meditation to relieve stress) Alternative: used in place of conventional medicine (i. e. special diet to treat cancer instead of surgery) Integrative medicine: combination of mainstream and cam therapies that have been proven for safety and effectiveness.
