Document Summary

The link between religion and violence goes back for years and years. Religion related to political terrorism has gone up and down and was not a prime factor, and now it has become. Islamism > political terrorism, think of these as the same, but they are not. Iraq: inter muslin, for as long as there has been an islamic and west, islamic terrorism has gone back further. 2 main subgroups of muslims are: shia vs. sunni and kurds. Iraq is predominately a shia country they are a majority. Invasion of iraq in 2003, hussein was a dictator, when he was removed there was a lot of pent up violence (now in syria there"s a religious conflict) Also, minority groups within the kurds kurds are sunni"s but they are ethnically different from most of the other sunni"s within iraq. Various groups are staking out their claims. How do we properly divide up the country.
