A set of theories that are not particularly concerned with the cause of deviance/crime. Why does crime occur: routine activity motivated offender, learned behavior biological, psychological. Where does crime occur: crime is concentrated in 3-5 blocks. When does crime occur: concentrated at late night, weekends, assaulted committed by young male in and out of bars. Violent crime and property crime, french departments (us county: commercial burglary, spatial variation and temporal in crime, property crime in urban departments, violent crime in rural environment. Obvious and stable patterns: crime rates in different countries despite fact that laws are different, quetelet quoted importance of age, gender, climate, alcohol consumption, young male in urban warmer environment in bars, temperature has impact on brain function.
