Document Summary

Scenes from the life of a police officer. A person"s impression of an officer is developed from the encounter and the impressions that they make both of the individual officer and of the police service as a whole. Impressions may not be accurate or fair but may also be justified. Familiarity with something make us think we know more about it than we actually do. The uniformed constable is the face of the police service. Before becoming any higher, all officers must begin as a constable. Some officers happily spend their entire service as a uniformed officer patrolling the streets, while others work hard to escape this role. Uniformed patrol officer is the first to attend at the scene of an incident. Many individuals who call for the help of the police would become hostile towards the uniformed authority. Role of the uniformed police officer is largely reactive than proactive.
