Currently, obermeyer relies on several product demand forecasts created by six managers within the company to make decisions about material procurement and production commitments. However, the six typically come up with varying forecasts. Accurate forecasting is needed because material procurement must occur well in advance of production and therefore accurate forecasts need to be ready well before manufacturing begins. Products must be ordered at two times: once before the las vegas product show and once after.
