Document Summary
The life of the cell form the time it is first formed until its own division into daughter cells. Cell division equals cellular reproduction, same thing. 2 phases: interphase and mitotic cell division (mitosis followed by cytokinesis) Mitotic cell division= 10%. includes prophase metaphase anaphase and telophase. followed immediately by cytokinesis. This whole process happens in 24 hours. mitosis takes less than an hour and s phase will be long, about 10-12 hours, g2 takes 4-6 hours, and g1 takes about 5-6 hours. Cell cycle is monitored at 3 checkpoints: g1-s, g2-metaphase, and then metaphase- anaphase checkpoint. each checkpoint will use protein to pass the step. G1 checkpoint: checking for situation of the dan. considering whether dan at that point is complete and suitable for replication. G2-m checkpoint: will ask if the dna has been completely replicated at that point. if so it will continue to next point.
