Document Summary

Optic chiasm cross over of the nerves from the eyes. Left medial retina sees the left visual field. Right side of the brain sees the left side. Left lateral retina sees the right central vision of the body. Left side of the brain sees the right side. Right lateral retina sees the left central vision of the body. Peripheral vision: medial retina fibres from each eye cross over at optic chiasm and go to the occiput on the opposite side. Central vision: while lateral fibres (for central vision) go directly back to the occiput on the same side. Left occiput received all input information about right side from both eyes, and vise versa. When you lose central vision from one of the eyes you will lose your depth perception. A pituitary tumor compresses the inside of the chiasm 1st medial first.
