The average family income is slightly below the provincial average (ontario). Unemployment is slightly higher than the provincial average due to the recent closure of a large car assembly plant. The primary employer in the community is a regional warehousing and distribution centre for a major grocery chain. The community also includes about 50 mid-size corporations, mostly in the manufacturing and technology sectors, and a small core of banks, small businesses, professional offices, as well as retail outlets, bars and restaurants.
