Economic analysis can shed light on many issues that are of great significance for many of us because they affect our lives in important ways. The following are some benefits derived from understanding economics better: understanding the economy, understanding world affairs, being an informed citizen, thinking logically, getting personal satisfaction. Scarcity the situation that exists when resources are inadequate to produce all the goods and services that people want. If we could have everything that we wanted, we would not have to choose. Therefore, choice is a direct result of scarcity. As long as scarcity exists, choices must be made. Society has to face scarcity and make choices on a large scale just like individuals do. Economics the social science that studies how people use limited means to satisfy their unlimited wants.
