Document Summary
Foraging families: the very basis of social/political organization is derived from the economic organization, forging was a basis for survival in which you go around and search for your food in the wild, relaying heavily on mother nature. Mother nature was therefore worshipped i. e. , the goddess religion: as populations grew the organization changed, however, on mass, pre colonial aboriginal societies were foraging communities, they made medicines out of herbs such as self inducing abortion medicines. These were used to control population and make sure birth rates were kept low. Due to changing seasons, the communities moved a lot in order to follow the hunt. Because of this they did not value material goods as opposed to our capitalist societies in which we worship and identify with material goods. Kin order societies: kin meaning family i. e. , extended family - the communities were made up of 30-50 people and everyone in the community was related through legal or blood ties.
