Society: a large group of people (ex: canadian society) who interact with one another in accordance with the values, beliefs, customs, behaviours, and artefacts of a common culture. Our survival depends on social relationships formed w/ one another: ex: tom & wilson from castaway: human need for social relationship even though he could physically survive by himself. To survive together we develop: technologies, social institutions, ways of communicating, rules governing behaviour, values and belief systems. People belonging to the same culture interpret the world and express themselves in the same way. Culture = way of making sense of the world.
