Prostitution is the old profession and must serve a role in maintaining stability. Also reproduces deeply instilled ideas about women and female values. Capitalism led to the idea of inherited wealth. Inheritance made men want to consider having a family. The idea of monogamy and a nuclear family was born. Sexual acts are not just biological, but culturally and historically specific. Ideas about sexuality intersect with gender, class, and race. Almost all aspects of social life are constructed on the assumption that all (cid:862)(cid:374)or(cid:373)al(cid:863) people are heterose(cid:454)ual. Operates with 3 key effects: produces non-hetero sexualities as deviant, produces non-normative heterosexuality as deviant, produces specifically gendered & racialized sexualities. Heteronormativity is the 3rd line of the gender story. Presents heterosexual desire & romance as necessary and magical, ultimately produced through the kiss. Prese(cid:374)ts (cid:449)o(cid:373)e(cid:374)"s (cid:271)odies as o(cid:271)je(cid:272)ts of heterose(cid:454)ual desire, (cid:373)e(cid:374)"s bodies as sites for humor. Male bodies are not produced in the way that females bodies are.
