What is religion: a question that will be revisited time after time in this class. Religions often have ethical teachings, laws/rules, which shape our lives. When reading the textbook keep in mind, religions are often categorized and expected to fit into a box. For example, indigenous religions amongst different first nations in different countries are categorized into the same box. What this does is attempt to argue that each system of beliefs has something in common. Different types of religions: different ways to categorize religions, these listed below aren"t just the only ways, not mutually exclusive. Scriptural religion: based on written word, not all practices come from written word, some oral, emphasize the interpretation of those words, hindu vedas. Jewish torah: temple rituals were much more important early on, after the destruction of the 2nd temple that textural interpretation became more valued.
