Our five senses: vision, hearing, taste, smell, touch. And then two more (somatosensation: kinesthesis: we can sense where are our body parts are, the system for sensing the position and movement of individual body parts, vestibular sense, monitors whole body (including head) position and movement. Including sense of balance holistic sense, works on dry land, not bang in table, when we spin around we lose our vestibular sense. Perception: the process by which our sensory receptors & nervous system receive & represent stimulus energies from our environment. Perception, making sense of the shapes, faces. Psychophysics: study of the relationship between physical characteristics of stimuli and our psychological experience of them: light (cid:271)right(cid:374)ess, ou(cid:374)d (cid:448)olu(cid:373)e, pressure (cid:449)eight, taste s(cid:449)eet(cid:374)ess e. g. , physical characteristics can be light waves bright or not so bright judgement. Psychophysics- 3 major questions: how much stimulate is necessary to evoke a sensation, absolute threshold: how much volume we need to say yes i hear it, minimum.
