Linking prostitution to other work of bodily service , masseuse, philosophy proffesor, factory worker, etc. Stigma attached to prostitution is based on a collage of irrational and indefensible beliefs. Contented that laurie shrage (1989) relied upon these cultural stigmas to support her rejection of normalization, implying criminalization may be necessary. Cultural difference about sex may vary, but shrage doesn"t remark about the differences within one culture, as well. Rejected that using the stigma to criminalize and cause further stigma is wrong and not a good argument against legalizing prostitution. The right to direct one"s life; prostitution is much different than forced, or exploitive sex and in those instances, are unacceptable. Exploitation: gaining an advantage by interacting with someone who is vulnerable; prostitution where vulnerabilities (poverty, sexual abuse, domestic violence, etc), is not exploitive. Ericsson framed the debate that if criteria is met, prostitution could be sound, including: Those four cluster positions were the focus of topic 2.
