Seen in calves, muscles contract to aid blood flow towards heart. Lymphatic vessels: retrieves excess fluid from tissues, returns it to blood. Lymph nodes: cervical: drain head and neck, axillary: drain breast and upper arm, epitrochlear: drains hand and lower arm. Inguinal nodes: drain external genitalia and anterior abdominal wall. Pregnant women: dependent edema and varicosities, hormonal changes cause vasodilation and drops blood pressure in first and second trimester.
