Technology has come so far in just a matter of few years. What once had
been so inexpensive and rare is now used daily by many individuals all around the
world. One of the many benefits of technology and the global Internet is the
innovation of telepresence platforms. These platforms are not only used to
connect individuals to one another, but it is now also used as a business strategy
tool. Today, any business organization has the ability to take advantage of a
virtual reality video collaboration of participating employees and coordinate
multiple rich data streams of digital information all together.
One of the high end technological telepresence platforms is the Cisco
IX5000 at 299,000-339,000. The platform uses leading-edge technology to
maximize its ability to create a virtual environment for 8 to 18 participants
together. The system uses 4K ultra-HD cameras discretely spread above three 70-
inch LCD screens and 18 custom speakers with a subwoofer for its videos. These
cameras have a unique way to create a life-like environment that has the ability to
move across any of the screens which allows it to capture every employee in any
position.
The IX5000 has been one of the greatest adaptations by Produban. The
company is responsible for IT infrastructure services for over 120 companies
including Grupo Santander, which is a Spanish banking organization known for its
innovation and marketing capitalization. Produban brings people together to
increase productivity by removing communication barriers between departments.
The IX5000 has allowed Produban to expand its target and use the telepresence
system to set up video rooms in more locations worldwide. The Cisco even allows
communication access to remote areas that may not be feasible for the IX5000 by
its innovation of a low-cost web-based system for online meetings and application
sharing; Cisco WebEx.
