America from the red scare to the jazz age. Rise of the great sports hero: babe ruth, charles lindbergh. American prosperity as a result of the aftermath of wwi. All the regulating of business and progressivism was sort of abandoned. Movement away from progressivism and hyper-regulation of business. America becomes the richest nation in the world. European nations in debt to america and their industry is fatigued by war and conflict. Generally an era of prosperity for americans. Lots of people want to go there now; demands for immigration laws to be put in place. A long time to get enough boats to take all the soldiers home. Lots of people thrown out of work unexpectedly. Once the war ended people started cashing in their war bonds, which led to increased consumption for a short period after the war. Returning soldiers didn"t have jobs to return to; held by immigrants and women.
