Famine of 1770 : decimated 10 million people -> british forces marched into villages to capture the remaining stocks of food under its scarcity. Warren hastings (1732-1818) : 1st governor-general of bengal. Regulating acts and board of control put east india company under crown supervision -> wanted to halt the wealth officers were gaining.
