We respond to colour because of our responses to nature and other phenomenon. We associate colour to events from our childhood and other memories. We identify with the colours of our favourite teams/flags. We associate colours with emotions. (ex: i"m feeling blue) Pink: drunk tank pink drunk people put into pink cells for calming effect. Green: generally not used for food packaging (symbolizes mold), hospital room green is used for curing effect. Red: brides in korea/ china where it symbolizes joy, happiness, and celebration. Blue: a protective colour in the middle east, doors are painted blue to ban evil spirits. Ishihara test: method of testing for colour blindness; occurs most in males. Gamut: the colours we see with your eyes. A: not outputs can produce what we can see. Digital camera, monitor, scanner, colour laser printing, printing press all have reduced gamut, therefore, we use tricks to reproduce colours that the eyes can see.
