Wide range of artists (composers, producers, managers) all worked for one studio. Large companies were created off of this. Warner bros. hired steiner (well known composer) Paid on weekly salaries just don"t work for anyone else. Orchestrators: writes out which instrument plays what line in the score (takes the composer"s notes and makes them presentable on one score) Hayes code: censorship code that outlines no picture shall be released that lowers the standards of those viewing it the sympathy of the audience should never be thrown to the side of the hate or sin . Born in germany to a family of bankers. Sent to school for business but hated it, loved music. Goes to berlin to join jazz band (1920s) plays saxophone (new instrument at the time). Started in the new studio system (training ground for actors) Started at m&g (married boss"s daughter), got fired, went to paramount, left to start.
