Document Summary
Human connection is of the most significant traits that people crave, and has been deep routed in humanity since the beginning of time. When one finds themselves lacking human contact for long periods of time they often become lonely, which can be the starting point for among many other things depression, misery, and complete isolation. As humans, we crave another"s touch, laughter, and warmth. When we feel alienated by our fellow peers, it certainly leads to the demise of the person. Nathaniel hawthorne and margret atwood similarly explore the darkness in isolation through their characters in their short stories the minister"s black. Though lois"s loneliness is more self imposed, and mr hoopers"s loneliness more imposed by his surroundings, both the protagonists find themselves in situations of extreme isolation on account of a moment that shaped the rest of their lives.
