What goes into assessing risks: faith and beliefs, health, experiences, precautions, others, media, physiological response, likelihood of risk, consequences, severity. Information: ongoing and not static, continues as you learn more about the family. Youth and families at risk: youth at risk, vulnerability , lack of information, dangers, exposures, experiences, harm could have been a risk, too deterministic - at risks of what, how the family presents. Eg. how involved with authority other family members are: families at risk, poverty. Also child neglect -- not always child in need of protection: capacity, heritage, experiences. At risk of loss of culture: family problems . Whether or not the child needs help. Based on the referral/call/disclosure: has to be serious -- duty to report. Less serious: cas does not have right to intervene. Inadequate: alleged or verified that the child has been abused (more severe side, verified that the child cannot meet their own needs.
