Goal of intervention is to further development and/ or correct socially challenging behaviour. It is culturally bound and require relationships with children, youth and/or their families. Work in milieu and make use of it promote change and development. Looks at the elements of the therapeutic milieu and uses this to determine what type of interventions should occur to enhance optimal development (physical, emotional, social, cultural and ideological safety, inclusiveness and affirmation) This concept empowers children, youth an/or their families deal directly with their own issues and those of the groups that they identify with. The primary goal of child advocacy is to elevate the voice of youth. This means more than empowering youth to speak out on their own behalf. It means more than faithfully replaying their words.
