Public aitudes are ambivalent towards property crime: people aren"t as concerned about property crimes compared to violent crimes. Belief that no one is hurt: no direct contact with a vicim, the cost is mostly covered by the insurance and criminal jusice system as well as you but it isn"t that apparent. Thet, break and enter, arson and vandalism major categories. Make up more than half of all crimes. Property crime decreased 33 percent over the course of the last decade. Property crime is seen across all economic classes. Occasional criminals vs professional criminals edwin sutherland. Occasional criminals: people that don"t commit crimes on a regular basis: unskilled, unplanned. Disproporionately, these types of criminals are commited by youths: situaionally induced: criminals that don"t regularly engage in property crimes but when a situaion presents itself, they engage in the crime. Professional criminals: criminals that commit crimes as their main source of income: high level of technical experise.
