Can"t be a naion/state without a press (can" t properly funcion without it) Clear to the french that presses were needed. 1748 governor , press was sent to versade to assist clerks. Royal authoriies liked idea of press, refused to contribute money to prining press. Lack of prining press had a few consequences on france: dependence on french presses. Prining of catholicism: hindered the development of literature. French had a highly centralized government: monarchy controls by the producion of documents related to the colony. Even if u had monks/priests who wanted to publish books they would have to get approval from the head of france.
