Cri 420: from writer to reader week 1. Six type of book publishers: academic publishing, educational publishing, religious publishing, professional publishing, mass market paperback publishing, trade publishing. Written by scholars primarily for other scholars: research oriented, printed in small numbers, sold to other scholars in the same or related fields, sold to university libraries, etc. Specialized, only other academics can judge its value. These books are for classroom use in elementary and secondary schools. Books are layed out by the ministry of education e. g. chapters, terms, etc. Ontario and alberta: east of ontario goes with ontario, west goes with alberta. Notable difference in the us, only 2 states have this california and texas. In texas, this publishing is extremely political: e. g. cannot say that evolution was proven in any way, and that it was just one theory, had to say how bible was equal to evolution, kids textbooks are political.
