Claims are acceptable if it is reasonable to believe them. Rule: don"t take believing as your default: belief shouldn"t be automatic, believe only when there is good reason to believe. Our own understanding of how the world works. Not included religion, poltics and conspiracy theories. Our shared intuitive sense of how physical objects in the world behave. 2 levels: general physical laws/patterns, claims about how this thing will behave. Example: when you poke a balloon with a pen you know that it is going to pop because it is part of your folk understanding of physics. (everyday knowledge) When a break is thrown at a window, you know the window is most likely to break understanding of physics.
