The government will also direct funding through budget 2017 of . 6 million to public education and awareness to inform canadians, particularly young people, of the risks of cannabis use, as well as surveillance activities. This public education and awareness has already begun, and will be a continuing priority: implementing cannabis legalization and regulation will require action by the provinces, territories and municipalities. Government of canada will continue to engage them in the days and months ahead. They will be vital partners in the proposed regime.
