Socy 387 the sociology of crime and delinquency. The way in which crime and criminal justice and social control manifest themselves in popular culture. Concept of crime and what it has meant to criminologists historically: how has it been used, what is wrong with the way in which the concept has been used. There is no agreed upon consensually based answer: the term criminology can be used to refer to a vast array of disciplinary approaches, not the exclusive domain of any one discipline, so much variation across disciplines. Remarkable variation in respect to what constitutes criminology: what causes to crime to how the victims deal with the crime etc. etc. Interdisciplinary: mutual distrust between disciplines, antagonisms, most of what we call interdisciplinary isn t actually so, berger, form of consciousness . Criminology is not a perspective; it is a subject/problem area.
