Imaginaive: the mind (intellect and emoions) is involved at each level, intellect is basis to science, emoions is a basis for the arts. Science and the arts are not completely divergent. Science: stems from the intellect, emphasis on observaion and classiicaion, grasps regulariies, progresses in accuracy and uility, draws upon creaivity of emoion & imaginaion, language is a criical dimension of science. The arts: stems from the emoions, limitless potenial, comparaive standards of excellence, employs aspects of reality and life experience with imaginaion (hello- adele) Science (natural and social) progresses as conceptual frameworks (paradigms or disciplinary matrices) are reined, rethought, re imagined. Talcot parsons looked at theorist order to disinguish psychology from sociology. Sociology is a science but diferent from the natural sciences in two key ways. (io) Sociology looks at the macro of social structure. It coninuously moves between micro and macro to see the whole picture. 5 diferent ways: diferent sociologist understands micro/macro diferently.
