During the 8th through 6th centuries, a series of prophets criticized the religious leadership and the general populace of both kingdoms for their failure to keep god"s laws and to maintain their side of the covenant. These prophets indicated god"s displeasure and the withdrawal of divine favour, the result of which would be the destruction of each kingdom. They spoke of god"s behalf and tell how the behaviour of their people affect them, certain events are a result of previous activity.
