It is extremely important to assess the paient before and ater treatment. First assessment is to determine the client"s background and the nature & severity of their symptoms. You measure symptoms both before and ater treatment to evaluate the efect the treatment may have on the client. Observaion, interviews, quesionnaires, paper and pencil tests, medical imagine, blood studies, and more. Always part of any assessment can vary in length and amount of detail. Some are structured clinician asks a speciic series of predetermined quesions that map onto accepted diagnosic criteria. Others are unstructured clinician asks whatever quesions they consider relevant to the speciic event. Ask the client and/or a family member or teacher to report the frequency, severity and duraion of various symptoms to help in diagnosis. Paricularly vulnerable to bias clients or fam. Members can present themselves as socially desirable (healthier than they are) Someimes people can also exaggerate symptoms malingering.
