Authoritaive parents unlikely to use physical discipline, will explain reasons behind rules they lay out. Reason with children, hearing arguments but not always giving in to them. Set irm rules but also grant children a high degree of freedom within set boundaries. Praise obedience as a virtue and expect children to follow rules without explanaion.
