Document Summary
Explain what intelligence is and how it is measured. Factor analysis: correlational techniques are used to study associations among different skills and abilities that we associate with intelligence. Factor analysis: is one correlation technique that is a statistical analysis that examines all of the correlations between all of the items and determines if any of them are highly correlated with each other. If a group of test items correlate highly with each other, factor analysis can provide evidence that they are measuring the same thing. Intelligence quotient (iq): a number used to express the intelligence of a person that is calculated using the ratio of the mental age as reported on a standardized test to the chronological age, then multiplied by 100. Since all measures of intelligence showed a correlation, they all must reflect a common factor of intelligence, which is g for general intelligence: g= general intelligence.
