Document Summary

Learning is the process where experiences at one time alter the behaviour in another. John b. watson believed in the blank - slate theory, that anyone can become anything. When talking about we are talking about the relation between a neutral stimulus. Association of an experience in a place that affects the way you feel about a place. and a reflex that leads to a conditioned response. (going to dentist, bullying at school, cancer patients at hospital) Generalisation: generalization occurs not just physically, but also semantically in people. (ex. If you"ve been conditioned to flinch to a tone, you will flinch in response to other tones, pair words with a reward) Discrimination training: it involves the ability to distinguish between one stimulus and similar stimuli. In both cases, it means only responding to certain stimuli but not to those that are similar. But we will never be passive learners. (we produce actions with a particular goal in mind. ((operant response))
