Intelligence: the ability to think, understand, reason, and adapt to or overcome obstacles, what and how is controversial. One controversy: bias kind of a racia thing (white males have power and intelligence cultural bias goes beyond race as well ) Fluid= involves problem solving, quick witted, novel approaches, decreases with age. Crystallized= increseases with age, aquired knowledge, things you see on game shows etc (facts, questions, knowledge) the g factor. Ppl how have a high g factor they tend to be good at a number of facets. There are sub components verbal mechanical spatial and numerical but thy are all trumoped by the general knowledge. Intelligence tests developed and used: identify children who needed help ie. need more help to get through school, justify racism, eugenics (limit reproduction of those with lesser genes) in alberta that happend. Popular in field of education-little good research. Theory based on adults with neurological insults. Linguistic, musical, bodily kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, visual spactial, naturalist.
