Document Summary
T o p i c 4 : p u b l i c v s p r i v a t e. The affairs of the community: public vs private. A community, it"s culture and it"s politics are always about and viewed by it"s public affairs, although that is not the most accurate representation in actuality. All political affairs are viewed as public affairs, they cannot be private and be political (this is normative and not the case in real life, but is how we are viewing it. ) Public affair assumes an existence of hidden, or private (nonpublic, nonpolitical) affairs within a community. Publicus (latin: poplicus: the people, adult men): belonging to the people res publica (latin: things public) republic. Bonum publicum: commonweal (from common + wele: old english, well-being) Privus (latin): to set apart, to free form. The division has existed for as long as communities have, since the dawn of time.
