Achieved status - if you are talented, then you may become a musician: usually higher status, higher income family, lessons go outside home, has boundaries (beginning and end) Relationships between teacher and student reflect and reinforce the larger society"s view of relationships. How the music is taught, the pedagogy if you will, is one of the strongest links between music and society that we can study.
