Cavalleria rusticana is a short story written by giovanni verga and published in 1880. Verga was an italian realist writer, best known for his depiction of life in sicily, and especially for the novel, i malavoglia. A story deeply rooted in love, betrayal, and a couple love triangle, cavalleria rusticana follows turiddu and his discarded lover, santuzza. Turiddu had returned home from military service to find that his fianc e, lola, has married another man.
