KNPE 261 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Motor Action F.C.
Document Summary
Using a repetition without repetition model for athletes in all sports: Difference between science and what is applicable. Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own. How we research using our own experiences as guides. If mastery of mvt is goal, then perfect practice for acquisition and refinement represents learning so connect individual to learning and task with context as key. It"s all a(cid:271)out repetitio(cid:374), perfe(cid:272)t pra(cid:272)ti(cid:272)e (cid:373)akes perfe(cid:272)t, idealized (cid:373)(cid:448)t patter(cid:374)s: the more practice, the better (do more reps), offer constant instruction and feedback. Themes: movement skill acquisition: motor performance is how its measured - motor ability/skill is how you improve it. Implications stem from many traditional theories which impact mvt skill acquisition. Problem: prescribe most accurate solution w/o accurate definition of problem: mvt is correct only when it perfectly fits motor problem. 3 bs of mvt skill: relationship bw us and environment: behaviour (athletes perception); brain (athletes intentions) and biomechanics.
