As task complexity increases, rt increases so complex mvts require more planning. Rt increases as more elements are added in a series. Rt increases when more limbs must be coordinated. Rt increases when duration of mvt must be longer. Storage problem: need vast memory capacity to store separate mps for a near infinite # of mvts that can be produced (all mvt and each ones variations) but human memory stores are finite. Novelty problem: fails to account for how novel mvts are produced. Generalized mp: defines mvt parameters rather than the specific mvt. Mvt parameters: mvt time, mvt amplitude, limbs and muscles used. Parameters/ surface features: the variable inputs to a gmp ; can be modified to determine execution of surface features. Control of mvt trajectory (motor planning where mp is selected mvt parameters motor execution muscle activity limb mvt) Mp generates motor commands to move the limb.
