Understand global burden of disease (gbd) as a measure of total health loss from hundreds of diseases and injuries (and their risk factors) that provides insight into the health status of different populations throughout the world. Discuss gbd in relation to three major categories of disease and ill health: 1) communicable diseases and maternal, neonatal, and nutritional disorders, 2) non-communicable diseases and 3) injuries. Use the gbd compare tool to investigate how a disease pattern changes over time or to compare the trends of a disease by country, age, and/or gender. Discuss how data supports development goals and what type of data is needed to support development goals. Divided into three categories: non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases (include maternal health and nutrition), injuries. Represent 3 out of every 10 deaths that occur globally.
