Israeli knesset repealed a law in jan. 1993 that forbade contact with plo members: meetings no longer illegal. Israeli switched gears and suddenly began to perceive arafat and the plo as an effective partner. Plo"s involvement in the peace process would marginalize hamas. The palestinian delegation to the madrid conference could not make signi cant decisions on its own and travelled to tunisia to consult with the plo. Oslo: mutual recognition and establishment of parameters and timetable for negotiations regarding the nature of palestinian autonomy in the west bank and. Declaration of principles: outlined a phased approach comprised of interim arrangements that dealt with palestinian autonomy and parameters for negotiating the nal status: negotiations to be carried out in stages. Rabin at this stage ruled out palestinian sovereignty and insisted that jerusalem should remain undivided. Wednesday, march 9, 2016: at this stage continued to build settlements int the wb.
