Problems: colonial division of labour, agraian pop, insuf cient capital and infrastructure, lack of domestic entrepreneur class. Us & soviet union locked in an ideological and geo-political con ict. Third world major arena for the proxy war & con ict: spheres of in uence, models of development, granting of aid, client governments. 3 main geo-political in the international arena; each trying to promote their own ideas: the west (usa et al, soviet block, pan-third worldism (newly independent countries trying to nd their own)
