Bf have potential for redevelopment whereas green fields don"t. Brownfields: positive attributes location in urban areas: avoids development in rural areas (taking up farmland, commuting, high real estate value sites preferred over greenfield development arteries roads, rail, water. Contamination is not always visible or obvious variation in amount of soil and vegetation. The prescribed approach to assessment: phase one: historical research old records, anecdotal, paper" investigation of site history. Many people don"t actually know what was on the site so they ask people who have lived there for a long time.
